Game Preservation Certification

Real ownership that lasts after support ends

PC Game Preservation Certification verifies that a game will remain fully playable and truly owned by the player once the publisher ends support. We check specific technical criteria and issue clear public certificates based on the results.

  • Independent verification of ownership and longevity claims
  • Clear certificates players can understand and trust
  • Public listing of every certified title and its level

How PC Game Preservation Certification Is Different

Most "ownership" claims disappear the moment a store closes, servers are shut down, or an anti-cheat stops working. Roosens Game Preservation Certification is different: we independently verify the technical reality and only award certificates when the game truly continues to work after official support ends.

Enforcement: The program is backed by a refundable security deposit that each publisher must furnish in an amount and form acceptable to Roosens. The security deposit shall be held by Roosens (or its designated escrow agent). In the event a publisher fails to uphold its obligations under the program, Roosens shall issue formal written warnings and afford the publisher a reasonable cure period within which to rectify any ownership, compliance, or other deficiencies. If the matter remains unresolved upon expiration of such cure period, Roosens is expressly authorized to forfeit the security deposit in whole. Provided the publisher has otherwise complied with all program requirements and no claims remain outstanding against the deposit, the security deposit shall be returned to the publisher, without interest, promptly upon the official end-of-support date of the applicable game.
